"We will continue to give to the people what belongs to the people"

"We will continue to give to the people what belongs to the people"

Çekmeköy Mayor Orhan Çerkez visited Çekmeköy News Newspaper, which operates under the Erdem Group umbrella, and made a statement live. In his statement, Çerkez said, “Zeki Togan Park was previously intended to be converted into a gas station. We restored the park area to public use. When we took office, we did not object to the court decision regarding this area. Because we wanted to redesign it for the children of this city. Now our children can play there safely, and our people can breathe.”

Mayor Çerkez also touched on the municipality's social projects, saying, "Initiatives such as the renovation of social facilities, retirement cultural centers, and mobile barber services are greatly appreciated by citizens. Social municipal work is not a choice for us; it's a responsibility. The mobile barber truck, which travels to a different neighborhood each week, provides great convenience, especially for older citizens."

Çerkez, who stated that they have implemented daycare and daycare projects in Çekmeköy to enable women to participate more actively in the workforce, said, "We are alleviating one of the greatest burdens for working mothers. We are working on new projects to expand this service. Thanks to daycare centers, working mothers can safely leave their children here, continue working, maintain their social lives, and participate in everyday life. This provides significant support for their lives, both materially and spiritually."

Çerkez noted that nearly all parks in the district have been renovated, and added that new landscaping and green space expansion projects are underway. Çerkez said, "There are more and more spaces where children can play and families can spend time peacefully. Making Çekmeköy a greener district is our top priority."

Mayor Çerkez said, “For us, politics is a tool for service. We will continue to serve this city respectfully, without conflict with anyone. The state is eternal; we must serve only for our country and our district, without discriminating against anyone based on their party affiliation, or their views. Ahmet Poyraz was also a democratically elected mayor, and he served this district. So, what matters is not the party or the individual, but the service we provide.”

Çerkez also provided information about the renovation project for the condolence houses. Çerkez noted that the renovated facilities allow citizens to receive condolences in a more comfortable and respectful environment. He added, "We have improved the physical conditions in these areas and are offering free refreshments and services to our citizens."

Mayor Çerkez, addressing the municipality's free education support for YKS students, stated that student applications have increased significantly this year, saying, "Education is our priority. We are proud of our students who achieved 100% success last year thanks to our YKS courses. We aim to maintain that same success this year. Compared to last year, there is much more demand for our courses this year. We will do our best to support every student."

Çerkez also announced the launch of free shuttle services in the Hüseyinli, Koçullu, Ömerli, and Sırapınar areas, saying, "We've made it easier for our citizens to access the center. We want to expand this service. Thanks to these shuttle services, students can be picked up from the bus stop, dropped off close to school, and can easily return home in the evening."
